I've been reading about animators who flock foamed latex. I am creating a dog puppet out of regular casting latex. I want to flock it to give the dog fur. I am going to need the following colors: black, white and rust-brown... and I think I am going to need 3.5mm in each color, as well as some longer fibers (5mm?) for blending into the fake fur that will be glued at the sides of the head for the longest fur areas. Any suggestions on where to get small quantities of nylon flock in specific sizes? Anybody ever flocked latex? Thanks!

Hello, Sound cool! We tend to use 1mm, 2mm, and at times 6mm (I only keep a very small supply of blond for custom work) I would first try DonJer if you are in the USA for the lowest price right now. www.donjer.com/suedetex/nylon.htm for all the various sizes you may need. The sizes you are looking for are custom and will have to be made. Jill at DonJer is awesome to deal with and has plenty of knowledge to offer. Other sources if you want to test ideas before actually ordering a big batch of flock are. claremontflock.auto.officelive.com/default.aspx Give Claremont flock a run down of what you want to do and they may send you some sample packs of a few colors. www.restoredoll.com/ a great site for shorter flock and information. www.flocking.biz/index.html May also be an option UK supplier so shipping costs $$$. www.sceneryexpress.com/products.asp?dept=1149 Is another option for longer flock fiber, but ask questions because some mixtures may look brown or rust and really they have some greens in there that throw off the colors a bit. Plus scan the links section for other options! Thanks and Welcome! Ray Flock Concepts
