Hello everyone! The first thing I would say, is that I'm spanish, and I don't speak english very well.. But I expect you could help me in my project! Well, I've been searching a lot of information of flocking, and I found this forum; I want to flock big pieces, and maybe my questions shouldn't be here, but it's too difficult to me to understand properly and quickly other language. Sorry if I disturb here. I want to do a homemade electrostatic flocking machine, but it has to be bigger than the one you use to flock your GI joes, I want to do things like this: www.mercadoracing.org/imagenes-anuncios/3/348900/se-vende-saxo-grupo-a_4.jpgSo, I think that with a small flocking device I will not be able to do something like that. I hope you coul help me in my project, I will be very pleased How can I do this kind of flocking? Of course I want to made the machine by myself, so I also learn something new doing it! I'm a little bit confused, because of my language, but there is no information in spanish about homemade flocking devices... It's mad. I also wanted to ask, where I could buy the flock fibers, as you see, I will need a lot of quantity. Thank you very much, and sorry for my bad english! Thanks.

I think my first recommendation is to make a small handheld unit and first learn to flock some small items. Once you learn the this you can then understand it’s limitations and potential. From there you can decide whether to attempt to build a more powerful unit, or purchase one. If you would rather jump right in and built the more powerful unit- you will need an adjustable generator from about 10kV up to 80kV or more. You’ll need to use all HV (high voltage) compliant wire and parts ( on these smaller units we use and make here- we can get away with using lesser quality parts), but for high power units (mainly anything over 20kV) you’ll need better parts because HV will leak through most everyday things (rubber, PVC, etc.). I would start at: www.amazing1.com/hv-dc-power-supplies.htmAnd ask if they can make up a power generator with enough juice for your needs.

good day to all I also I have a project to build a homemade flocking machine. for now I have a circuit from a fly back to TV, in theory can reach 15kV. but for my need would have to get to 30KV. would be good to create a group to achieve these levels of voltages. leave my mail

The Fly back test I did ran at 30kV. The tricky part is you'll need High Voltage safe parts to run it or else it'll leak 30,000 volts with current (dangerous and lethal). The first few tests using this type of device seemed to work great, but the last test turned my garage into a lightening storm because of a HV leak that charged the moisture in the air. Lucky for me I set up 3 or more safety cut offs- so, I was able to stay far away and shut it all down. In the end it takes much more than my knowledge to build such a device with a fly-back so that project hit the trash. The HV leaked through electric-tape, a rubber hose, and a piece of PVC pipe. So I don't recommend it for a hobbyist at all.
