To all the new flockers or failed flockers.
You can do this. You have to find your nitch is all! We’ve all failed or had times with poor results. It’s a learned skill that gets better with practice. You are not stupid if you can’t do it on your first tries. You just may have to work out what is best for your situation. If I can help solve an issue you are having I will. If you want to remain anonymous that’s fine also. You can ask questions of me or I’m sure many of the others here. Type in Joe Blow as you name if you want it doesn’t matter.
If you have bought a kit- make sure you use up the practice flock and learn how to flock first. Make sure you set up a way to capture the missed flock for reuse. I shouldn’t say this (for sales reasons), but containing the missed flock so it doesn’t fall to the floor wasted is key to maximizing your flock supply. This rule is the same no matter where you bought your flock. You will find later on that flocking is not the hard part. Finding affordable flock the right size is the tough part. Do yourself a favor and develop a good rapport with the members here and I’m sure most would help you the best they can.
Know that the situation for flocking is different for different areas of the world.
I use the same flock that comes in the kits. I flock in 70% to 90% relative humidity (RH). This zone only needs to be around you work area.
Know, that waterbased adhesive may not work well at higher RH levels, but epoxy & some thin polyurethane’s work fine in higher RH levels.
I know you want to rush into flocking and can’t wait to get going. We’ve all done this, but take the time to scan through this forum. There is a wealth of information posted here and at some point you’ll be adding to it to help out another flocker in training.
Know that there are some other Pro-Reflockers that you may have heard of here also so it’s a good mix of talents. Some are silent and others public, but all have the flocking bug and with practice so will you.
