Hi I'm new to the flocking game and have just purchased a scooters static stick so I can do car interiors. I bought the adhesive off eBay which they said is good for dashboards and is water based. The trouble I'm having is when I've flocked the plastic item and left it to dry when I brush off the excess there are patches where only small amounts of the flock have stuck. I tried applying the adhesive with a brush first then I tried a roller which gave a better finish but still left patches any help would be great cheers

Either your glue is skinning over too quickly or your grounding of the piece is too weak to pull the fibers towards it or both. To test this try the glue up of a small piece and let the ground clip or pin touch the glue and try it out. If it's still spotty- try a longer pot life glue. If both fail you may have to check your humidity level or (providing that the flocking unit is working correctly) make sure the fibers haven't become too dry. A side tip is to always seal your fibers up tightly. I tend to go a step further and lightly dampen a small piece of paper towel and keep it in the bag during storage to keep a bit of moisture content in the fibers. Not wet mind you- Too wet or too dry will both act up. I hope some of this helps.
