My outstanding Kung Pow Grip hands came in today and I think they are awesome . They are slightly beefier than the old Kung fu Grip hands, but in a good usable way. easy to put on the vintage wrist pegs and they work and look super. Note in the picture the chips in the wrist plastic. This was from me trying to put ultimate soldier hands on previously . These new hands go on much easier . If you're like me and want grip hands that you can actually use without fear of breaking $30+ vintage hands . These are for you. Note, even though CastAwaytoys is a member here I paid for these and was impressed with them enough to post a comment here. Although, I am not above receiving free samples at any time...lol ! Ray,
The hands look great. Does he make them? I know people that would purchase them in a heartbeat. Cots seems to be out of the action hands and people are desperate to get them.

I'm not sure. If he does they are great quality. I was one the his website and saw a 1/6th link and there they were and they have a bunch of colors also. I need to see how the brown looks next.

Ray,
I'll have to buy some and see how they look. I once bought some from the UK and they where different. They were soft flexible rubber, but the wrist area was hard plastic and had the riveted peg. I want the hands to look original and the Kung Pow hands look very nice.

I think they are great. The color is more along the lines of muscle body hands, but that's what I was looking for anyway. Off the top of my head I don't know if he has the milky white flesh tone like the Mike Power or many of the classic KFG Joes. These don't come with a wrist peg- just the hands, but well worth it.

I heard that they were nice. I've had molding hands on the back burner for a while, I still might have a go at it.

I’d like to get into molding, but I know, as with everything, I’ll get too involved in it. I’m like you and Rob1- I won’t quit until I get it to a level that’s perfect, which seems to never happen because as you go along you want things even better. Rob1 sends me Dog Tags and handguns/rifles and says, “These are even better than the last batch.” Shit, I thought the first batch were perfect… I guess we all do it that way. I was just telling a collector on FaceBook that I used to be an absolute purist about collecting, but over time I’ve found that I get much more enjoyment from piecing together played with items. It’s as if a weight has been lifted from me. He said the same has happened in his collecting. So, again maybe we all tend to do the same thing. For me the hands are an awesome thing because I don’t have to hunt around and pay crazy money for vintage hands and if my son and I damage them… I can just order more.

Ray and Traud,
I thought about casting the hands too. I can't find much information on the liquid rubber to use on them. I found that someone said to use Poly Vinyl Chloride or Plastisol. All I can find on that is that it's for fishing lures or it's liquid rubber for tools. Not a thing on different colors. I want to know what Hasbro used. I did find that Make up artists use a type latex rubber for masks, but I don't think that would work. This is frustrating because it seems to be a secret and I can't find really anything. I know I can make a mold of the hands, but finding right rubber product seems impossible. If you guys have any information let me know. Thanks, Rob

Latex is not what you want to use trust me I make Halloween Props and Masks........ if you know nothing about molding I suggest you leave it to the guys who do. Its actually cheaper to have items made than make them yourself, I find that having heads flocked is way cheaper than doing it yourself I could do it buy why waste my time and money when I can just send them to Ray ;D

Ike,
I do know how to make molds. I have an Art Degree and have made many different types of molds and sculptures. I've done 2 piece and 3 piece molds casting in urethane and with other products. I've made hand guns, rifles and dog tags for GI Joe. I've also made Helmets, visors and other items for Matt Mason Toy line. If you look under members projects under Rob1 you can see some of what I've made. Some of products to make the molds are expensive, but I do trades or I sell them. So if I can make the hands it would be cool just to have them. I think your absolutely correct about having knowledge to do these projects.
Doing re-flocks isn't that hard. Ray has taught me how to do it and I've helped him with other things. If you have the talent it's pretty easy. I like this forum because you can swap ideas and information.

Sorry brother, Rob is right he does make some great stuff... So does Traud, and they both Reflock. I think it comes down to willingness to put in the time mixed with talent. Those qualities usually set the drive. This forum is a safe haven for those that think outside the box. I would love to mold some things, but in my limited research I see it'll take more time and money than I'd care to invest right now (if ever). The flocking project takes up most of my spare time and then some, but I still like to see and read about those do. If you have some mask projects you'd like to share here you could Join the forum and post some pictures in the Members Projects area.

Thanks for the kudos Ray.
Rob, Latex for hands is a bad idea. What I plan on doing is making a mold out of silicon and casting the hands out of polyurethane probably around a 50-70 shore hardness. What kind of info are you looking for on the "rubbers"? As with flocking it took me a few years to find the right stuff to the job, so if I can help I'll do my best. Recently I found a place about 2 hrs away that has a massive amount of sculpting and casting a molding supplies, and they are way cheaper than the original place I was getting supplies from...not to mention better customer service

Traud, What I want to know is what kind of rubber can you use for the hands and where to get it. I know that Cots makes the hands, but what materials are they using. I can make the molds easily of the hands. When you say silicone do you mean the stuff you use for tubs and sinks? I know I've seen tan colored silicone at the hardware store. I just want to be able to mix it and pour it in the mold and have the same type of Hasbro hands. If there's anything out there let me know. Rob

Okay, I use the RIT dye on the KPG. This was a little tricky because I goofed up a little. I dropped the hands in Dark Brown Rit dye. I waited around 4 or five minutes and took one out and it seemed to be just stained, but when I wiped it off and looked under my Natural Light lamp it was prefect. I went back and took the other out and it looked perfect, but when I wiped it off it was much dark. So, I now will order some more and do this again with one set, but on the opposite hands so I end up with matches to these. I also want to try dyeing some white hands that puke yellow tone like Mike Power hands are. The darker isn't even that bad really because many times vintage AF/AM KFG hands would darken over time. So in the end it's a success. If you try this just keep checking the items because the color darkens a bit more than when you first pull it from the dye pot. I now have a basically jet black Joe head that was a badly stained Caucasian I was trying to make AF/AM. Now I may just make him a camo type and put a contrast hair color (blond or red) and make him a sniper. The pictures shows them as much darker, but the light one is perfect and the darker is a little lighter than say a Timeless/masterpiece Spy Island AF/AM Joe (I forget really which it was). The darker one though. Attachments:

Sit tight because a forum member of ours mazinfriki has started production on KFG hands made from the original geyperman (GIjOE Spain) molds of the 70's. He is going to send me some to test the market in the North America. Juanma's hands are what forum member mazinfriki has. The picture gives a run down of the various hands and you can compare them. They seem pretty tough because they are made with EVA Juanma says so they will not deteriorate. Attachments:

HELP Ray and Mazinfriki! Any ideas of where I could get 1 or 2 pairs of RED replacement KFG hands? I need to replace my Condor hands, they just lost all the fingers today! Mazinfriki, would you cast them in red? If so, please let me know how I could get some pairs. I'm from Brazil, there would be a huge demand here for KFG hands in red among collectors, we have easy access to flesh ones, but there are lots of Condors without hands. Thank you! Attachments:

It could work... I'll try with some spare hands I have, but I still think that a hand casted in red would look better.

Figuring out how long to keep them in the dye is the trouble. At least with red If they dye up too dark you could still redye them black maybe.

Ray, I sent an email to Cotswold about the action hands, this is what they replied, good news:
Hi Leonardo, we have the new color Action Hands in stock but they are not on the web site yet. The part number is: GIEX-CHA for the pair. They are the same price as the old color hands were. For pegless, the part number is: GIEX-CHNP
(I believe they are 4.49 the pair with pegs, and 3.99 the pegless pair)

I'm wondering if you could use Rit dye to dye them red??? It worked Ray! I used a vintage pale Mike Power hand, I can say it is now a 90% match with the vintage color. Thank you for another great tip!
